AliYOU — Terms of Service

1. Agreement
These Terms are an agreement between you and AliYOU ("AliYOU", "we", "us"), an independent project operated from North Carolina, United States.
By using AliYOU, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, don't use AliYOU.

2. Who can use AliYOU
You must be at least 13 years old. Before you start, we ask for your date of birth. We don't keep it. If you have an account, we keep only the fact that you passed the check, and when.
If you're under 18, a parent or guardian must agree to these Terms for you. You may use AliYOU only with their permission.
3. What AliYOU does
You pick between pairs of cards and can type some interests. If you like, you can also give your name, and your gender alongside it. AliYOU sends those choices to an AI model, which generates a set of suggested usernames.
They are suggestions. Nothing more.
AliYOU may show a short note on why a name fits. That note is built from the cards you picked and anything you typed. It's for fun. It isn't a judgement or an assessment of you, your personality or anything else about you.
4. Accounts are optional
You can generate usernames without an account. An account, made by signing in with Google, only lets you save names, organize them and see your recent history.
If you create an account:
- you must be at least 13;
- you're responsible for keeping your Google account and your device secure;
- tell us promptly if you think someone has used your account without permission.
You can delete your account at any time in the account controls. When you do, we delete its profile, saved names, collections, preferences, generation history and active sessions from AliYOU's database straight away. Copies can stay in our database provider's backups for a short time until they are overwritten.
We delete an account automatically after 24 months without a sign-in, as the Privacy Policy describes. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these Terms, or for safety, legal or operational reasons. If we close your account, we delete its saved data too.
5. We don't check whether a username is available
This is the most important thing on this page.
AliYOU does not check whether a generated username is available on Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, X, Discord, Reddit, Twitch, Snapchat, WhatsApp, Steam, any gaming platform, or anywhere else. We have no way of knowing, and we make no claim about it.
Availability changes all the time. Names are taken, released and recycled constantly. Before you use a username anywhere, check it yourself on that platform.
If a username we suggest turns out to be taken, that isn't a failure of the service. The service never claimed otherwise.
6. We don't guarantee usernames are unique
AliYOU's names come from an AI model, and there's randomness in how they're made. Two different people can be given the same or a similar username. We make no claim that anything you receive is unique to you, original, or has never been suggested before.
7. Third-party rights are your responsibility
A generated username might resemble someone's trademark, someone's name, or something else another person has rights in. We don't clear names for these rights, and we can't. We try to filter out some well-known brand names and public figures' names, but only on a best-effort basis, and many will get through.
You are solely responsible for:
- checking whether a username you want to use infringes anyone's trademark, name, likeness or other rights;
- following the rules of any platform where you register it;
- anything that happens as a result of your using it.
We filter output for offensive content and obvious problems on a best-effort basis. That filtering is not a legal clearance, and you shouldn't treat it as one.
8. Who owns a generated username
Honestly: probably nobody, and that's normal.
Short words and phrases generally aren't protected by copyright, and text produced by a machine generally has no copyright author. So:
- We claim no ownership of any username AliYOU suggests to you. Use it, change it, or ignore it.
- We don't promise that you own it either, or that you have any exclusive right to it.
- Trademark rights, if any ever arise, come from actually using a name in commerce, not from generating one here.
9. Acceptable use
Don't use AliYOU to:
- impersonate a real person, business or organization;
- create names meant to deceive, defraud, harass or abuse anyone;
- infringe anyone's trademark, copyright or other rights;
- access the service automatically, for example with scripts, scrapers, bots or bulk querying;
- get around rate limits or any other technical restriction;
- reverse engineer, decompile or copy the service;
- probe, scan or attack the service or the systems behind it;
- submit input designed to manipulate or subvert the underlying AI model.
We may suspend or block access for any of the above.
10. What you submit
You keep whatever rights you have in what you type. When you submit card choices, interests, your name or gender, feedback or notes, you give us permission to use them for two things only: generating and saving your usernames, and running and improving the service in the ways the Privacy Policy describes. Apart from the anonymous counts and taste-test and tester answers described in section 13, we never use your information to train AI models.
You confirm that you have the right to submit what you submit, and that it isn't unlawful or someone else's private information.
11. Feedback
If you rate the results or leave notes, we may use them to improve AliYOU. Feedback isn't confidential, and we don't owe you anything for it.
12. Our intellectual property
AliYOU belongs to us: the name, the site, the design, the card content and the system behind it. Using the service doesn't give you any rights in it beyond using it as intended.
13. AI
AliYOU uses artificial intelligence. An AI model generates usernames based on your choices.
AI output is unpredictable. It can be wrong, odd, repetitive, or sometimes inappropriate despite our filtering. Always look at a name before you use it.
If you want to know whether you're interacting with AI: you are. That's the whole product, and we'll always say so.
AliYOU tunes how it picks and orders names using only anonymous counts and taste-test and tester answers. None of this is linked to your account or includes your name. Apart from that, we never use your information to train AI or machine-learning models. That includes your name, gender, interests, notes, saved names and history. The Privacy Policy explains this in full.
14. Disclaimers
AliYOU is provided "as is" and "as available", free of charge.
To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
We specifically make no warranty that:
- any username is available anywhere;
- any username is unique;
- any username is free of third-party rights;
- any username is suitable for your purposes;
- the service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure or error-free;
- saved names or history will always be available. Keep your own copy of any name that matters to you.
AliYOU relies on third-party services, including an AI provider and a hosting provider. It may be slow, degraded or unavailable because of them.
15. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, data, goodwill or business opportunity, arising from your use of AliYOU.
Our total liability for all claims relating to AliYOU, combined, will not exceed one hundred US dollars ($100).
AliYOU is free. This limit reflects that.
Some places don't allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
16. Indemnification
To the extent the law allows, if someone makes a claim against us because of how you used AliYOU, how you used a name from it, or because you broke these Terms, you agree to pay the resulting damages and our reasonable costs, and to hold us harmless.
17. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or end your access at any time, with or without notice, if you break these Terms, for safety, legal or operational reasons, or if we stop offering the service. You can stop using AliYOU at any time, and you can delete your account at any time. Sections 7, 8, 10, 11, 12, 14, 15, 16, 18 and 21 still apply after your access ends.
18. Governing law and disputes
The laws of the State of North Carolina, United States, govern these Terms, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules.
Any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts located in North Carolina, and you agree to their jurisdiction.
19. Where AliYOU is offered
AliYOU is operated from the United States and intended for users in the United States. We make no claim that it is appropriate or available elsewhere. If you use it from another country, you do so on your own initiative and are responsible for following your local laws.
20. Changes
We may update these Terms. If we do, we'll change the version and date at the top and post the new version here. If a change is significant, we'll post a notice on aliyou.me before it takes effect and keep it there for at least 30 days. We won't edit quietly. If you keep using AliYOU after a change takes effect, you accept it.
21. General
If any part of these Terms is unenforceable, the rest stays in force. If we don't enforce something, that doesn't mean we've given up the right to. These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between us about AliYOU.
